Longhorns For Sale at Pelt Farm

Trophy Steers for SaleDue to our change from year around calving to a spring calving schedule, we will have a limited number of calves for sale this fall.

As of 5-13-14 we have one bull calf from Lady Victory out of our old bull Touchdown. This unnamed white and red bull calf is out of a 7 year Victory Lap daughter that raises big beefy calves by Touchdown. He was born April 24, 2014 and is heavily muscled and big. Too early to tell about horn growth, but if you have some darker cows and need to add muscling and size, he may be worth taking a look at. Will wean the last of October.

The 4-year old cow, Happy Girl, could calve with her second calf out of Touchdown, not sure. Her first calf out of the Hunts Command Respect son, HCR Gridiron Phenomenon, is a beauty and will be bred to Rio Sam Houston this spring. Besides being of good size, Pretty Girl has beautiful color and long horns. We don't often keep first calf heifers for breeding stock, but Pretty Girl is an exception.

Due to heavy culling in 2010, we will not be back to where we want to be until 2016. It was painful to part with cows with long horns and beautiful colors, but we decided that to take our genetics to the very top level, consistent with our genetic goals, it was necessary.

We are pleased with our herd at this point and wait with anticipation to see if Rio Sam Houston can take us to where we want to be.
